Acupuncture

Acupuncture Therapy is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine that promotes health and alleviates pain. It involves stimulating various Acupuncture points on the body to relieve pain, treat neurological as well as internal disorders, expel pathogens and balance the whole system. It is a method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and to improve functioning. Traditional Chinese Medicine also includes Chinese medical massage (Tui Na), Cupping and Moxibustion.

Somatic (body), Scalp (head) as well as Auricular (ear) Acupuncture correspond to regions of your brain that are associated with cognition, emotionality, balance, neuroendocrine functions, function of movement, sensory perception and imagination.

During an acupuncture session, neuroplasticity, which refers to the brain’s ability to change, grow and remap, increases while cell death slows down. Brain wave patterns change from highly stimulated Beta waves (thinking, analyzing) to Alpha waves (relaxation) and Theta waves (meditation, creativity).

Acupuncture promotes the release of Endorphins. Endorphins are peptides produced in the brain that relieve pain, reduce stress and create an improved sense of well-being. Acupuncture balances nervous system hormones, such as Oxytocin (the bonding/love hormone) and Dopamine (Pleasure/Satisfaction/Motivation). The production of neurotransmitters that calm the brain, improve memory and focus and enhance a feeling of joy and happiness increases during treatment. These combined effects make Acupuncture a powerful tool to treat pain, inflammation, mental health dis-harmonies as well as disorders of the tissues and organs.

Acupuncture activates the Pineal gland, which regulates Melatonin production and expands our perception of the world. This broader awareness allows for intensified intuition and the ability to release ourselves from past trauma that is being held in the body. Now there is more space for freedom, joy, creativity and love for life!
